i rented my first movie from iTunes yesterday. Inglourious Basterds. it took 13 hours to download! wow. i appreciate having internet in the jungle, but back at the farm that would have taken less than 1 hour. so i get 30 days to press play, and 24 hours to finish it once i do. seems fair for $4. i’m planning to watch it tonight, movie night with the dogs :)

have you ever rented a movie from iTunes?

13 hours!! Wow, and I thought my desert internet was slow. I guess other jungle living factors make up for internet lack.

I have probably rented a handful of them. I usually do it either before a trip or if we want to watch something on the Apple TV we have.

I sure hope you got the HD version if you waited 13 hours!

But it is still hard to beat Netflix, but don’t know if they deliver in the jungle. :)

I love renting from iTunes. Don’t do it as much now since we have Netflix. But if it’s not on the instant view, and I want to watch it now, I’ll rent from iTunes. Glad I don’t have to deal with the SLOW download, but at least you’re still connected.

itunes only had 1 version of that movie. don’t think it’s HD. it was just under 2gb.

and i love hulu and netflix, but neither of them with work outside the states unfortunately. on my last trip to the states, i watched an entire hell’s kitchen season on hulu!

and yes dg, living in paradise makes up for a lot! there is faster internet available, but that’s what i’m able to get at my current location. just under 1mb down.

That takes me back: when I moved into the apartment I now live in I got a plan for internet that is basically shared over a daisy chain of WiFi hotspots. So If the neighbor down the road would turn his hotspot off, which he did every night at 11 my net connection would drop down to one bar on my mac.

What’s worse: the connection was apparently so iffy that I would have to reconnect via VPN every 15 minutes or so. Try downloading a 350 mb file that way. Sure felt like an idiot sitting here in a completely empty apartment (furniture was en route) clicking on the VPN button every 15 minutes so I could watch LOST three hours later.

Now all is well, in internet land.
